Book Series: Shield Song
Shield Song will be a three book adult fantasy series set in Kishana, an ancient world similar to our own Bronze Age, with some crucial differences: no slavery, no patriarchy, and no empires. That is, until now.
The series started with the question: if a peaceful ancient society could create a magical artifact to protect its people, what would that be?
Book 1: Shield of the Goddess
Twenty-four-year old moon priestess Shala was born into a world without slavery. She alone has the magical gift to touch minds. She alone is the priestess foretold to break the first empire, but only if she can recover a legendary shield with divine power. Fail, and her city will fall, starting a spiral of oppression and violence leading to the death of the entire planet.
Shala’s task seems clear enough: enter an abandoned mountain temple sealed for centuries, recover the shield, and bring it back. But when she is ambushed by the hunters of the emperor, only the intervention of Jenan, a horse soldier from her city, saves her quest from ruin. When Jenan takes an oath to protect her, all seems well until their growing attraction to each other complicates matters. The shield is for women alone. If Jenan touches it, he will die, but is Shala ready to face the shield without him?
